RTP and volatility

RTP is a theoretical long-run ratio of returned amounts to total stakes.

RTP is a theoretical long-run ratio of returned amounts to total stakes. Turnover includes money wagered again, so it can exceed the initial deposit. Volatility describes how uneven outcomes can be; a return percentage alone cannot supply a distribution or predict the next spin.

At an assumed RTP of 96%, turnover of 1,000 has an expected return of 960 and expected loss of 40. A short session can be far above or below this average. Check the exact installed game configuration. A provider’s published percentage is not proof that every operator uses that version.

Worked example1 000 × 96 / 100 = 960; 1 000 − 960 = 40.

Calculation

E(return) = turnover × RTP / 100; E(loss) = turnover − E(return).

Worked example

1 000 × 96 / 100 = 960; 1 000 − 960 = 40.
